Shocking videos have been shared showing cars performing dangerous U-turns in queuing traffic on the A30 this afternoon.

Cornwall Live has been providing live coverage of a car fire on the hard shoulder of the Roseworthy Dip, between Camborne and Hayle.

Traffic has been backed up for much of the afternoon while police and firefighters dealt with the situation.

The incident has now been dealt with and traffic is clearing. One person caught up in the delays has captured two videos showing the U-turns.

A second U-turn captured on camera on the A30

Julie Payne captured the videos, showing motorists travelling westbound performing the manoeuvre, causing traffic coming in the other direction to brake.

She said: “There were so many and the poor oncoming cars were actually having to stop for some of them. Wasn’t as if we were in the queue for all that long anyway, a BMW had caught fire so we were just crawling past its wreckage.”

U-turns have long since been a talking point in Cornwall with several accidents being attributed to turns in the road by drivers trying to avoid being stuck in traffic.
