Man from Angarrack mourns death of good friend Lemmy from Motorhead
Posted: January 07, 2016
|A Man from Angarrack is mourning the loss of his good friend, Lemmy, after the sad news of his death in December.
Terry English, who is recognised as one of the worlds leading armourers, has been friends with Lemmy, the frontman of Motorhead since 1990 when they met on the set of a BBC comedy sketch.
Terry said: "We met when we were both on the set of The Comic Book Presents, and the episode was about the Falklands War. I have a picture of us both sat on Dartmoor. We have been friends since we met."
Terry, who has made armour for many TV shows and films, spent time with the rock legend in Hollywood playing pool. He said: "We would go to a club off Hollywood Boulevard called Crazy Girls and shoot pool together. I kept beating him so he gave me his pool cue."
Lemmy, who was born Ian Fraser Kilmister, died suddenly at the age of 70 on December 28 2015 after he was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of cancer on Boxing Day.
Terry said: "He will be sorely missed and he was a one off and they just don't make them like him anymore. Every time I used the pool cue at The Engine Inn in Nancledra I thought about him and now I will think of him even more."
Lemmy's funeral service will take place at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Hollywood, on January 9 and it will be streamed live through Motorhead's official Youtube Channel at 11.00pm UK time.
The band posted to their Facebook page to say: "With such limited space available on-site, we respectfully ask that you don't attend the cemetery… but we want you ALL to be a part of this, so we are setting up a live feed of the service via the internet on Motörhead's official You Tube channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbPCDmtTU-W4SdA8abZtWpA ."
Motorhead played their last ever gig on December 11 in Berlin and were due to come back to play in the UK this month. The rock and roll legends last played in Britain at the Eden Sessions concert in June 2015.
