#23: Report to Electorate

October/November 2009

The council was pleased to welcome two new members in September: Bob Amos representing the Hayle East ward and Clive Polkinghorne representing Hayle North. You can find their contact information on our web site.

Allotments. We have been out to tender and have selected a contractor to undertake the site works. Subject to the Glebe Committee transferring the land to the Council and some minor amendments to the planning permission, we are ready to start. It has been a long process but we have tried hard to minimise the delays on our side. Those on the waiting list will be notified as spaces become available.

Aquathons. We ran two successful Aquathons in the summer with a third being postponed to May 2010. We would like to thank local businesses and individuals for their generous donations which helped the Council raise further funds towards the pool improvement project.

Free swimming weekend. On 12/13 September a weekend of free swimming for all ages was promoted at the pool in conjunction with Cornwall Council. This was very well supported and it is hoped to offer further such opportunities next season. The pool is available over the winter as a private hire venue for non-swimming events.

Hayle in Bloom. The council is delighted with the outstanding success of the Hayle in Bloom team and congratulates them on their achievements and the resulting improvements in the attractiveness of the town. See their web site for full details: www.hayleinbloom.org.uk.

Community Centre. A range of rooms is available for hire - contact the Town Clerk.
