220407 | Riverside Chalet - Simon Wright, owner of Harbour Development Company trying to evict

Michelle Scully explained that she wanted to speak about the problems her friend Karin Howey, of Riverside Chalet was having as Simon Wright, owner of the Harbour Development Company was trying to evict her.  She said that although Mr Wright had previously claimed he loved and wanted to protect the chalets, apparently there was a letter in existence stating that he wanted to remove them.  Michelle said that through her own investigation she believed the rights to the Harbour had initially been gained fraudulently, by the then owners Tekoa.  She said that Karin was facing £9,000 court costs and being continually bombarded by Coodes Solicitors, who were trying to settle out of court.  She said that at the eviction hearing, the judge had postponed for a full hearing on 1 July.  Miche  read more »

200901 | Dynamic Dunescapes Project | The Towans | Hayle Pump

Many of us know and love sand dunes as beautiful coastal landscapes, but they are also listed as one of the most threatened environments in Europe for biodiversity loss.

These dunes are an important habitat for several rare species which are particularly adapted to life in the sand, but historic dune management has resulted in some dunes becoming over-stabilised, with too much vegetation. We now know that healthy sand dunes need to be free to move -to be dynamic.  read more »

These
aeolian deposits are most strongly developed on the northern coast, where
large areas are permanently cut off from the operations of the plough.
The most considerable of these fronts St. Ives Bay, forming the Lelant,
Phillack, Upton, Gwithian and Godrevy towans. Another extensive
tract constitutes the Perran Sands, and isolated patches continue as far as
Newquay. Further to the north the solid rocks forming the promontory
of Trevose Head are severed by the towans extending from Constantine
Bay to Perleze Bay, and opposite Padstow a tract of sandhills extends from
St. Michael to the Dunbar. Smaller patches occur at Gunwalloe and
along the southern coast.
