What if I told you that they're not actually hunting the "South African" variant?

It's the same mutation, but this one is homegrown and has been combined with the more infectious UK variant because Johnson wanted us to "learn to live with" the virus...

Also, from the same briefing, they now say that the B.1.1.7, (English variant), increased the risk of death by "1.65 (95%CI 1.21-2.25)", which is 65% more deadly than the original variant

Strange that Hancock mentioned none of these things yesterday... ?????

To summarise the current state of affairs...

The B.1.1.7, (English variant), is believed to be upto 70% more transmissible and 65% more deadly...and it now seems a new UK variant has evolved to add the E484K mutation, that reduces antibody/vaccine efficacy by ~50%

#BorisVariant E484K

Confirmation that the more infectious English variant, (B.1.1.7), has evolved to add the E484K mutation, (seen in South Africa and Brazil), that reduces efficacy of vaccines and increases the likelihood of reinfection

Introducing the #BorisVariant ??

Looks like there's been at least 15 cases of the #BorisVariant identified in the UK, and they've known about it since the start of December

It's also been confirmed to cause a "significant loss of neutralising activity" from vaccine antibodies ?????
