UFO LANDS IN HAYLE
By E.T.
There’s been a UFO sighting on Cornwall’s north coast…and..erm…
Oh alright; it’s a big outdoor disco shaped as a UFO.
Which is nearly as good if, like 83 per-cent of our online readers, you’re under 25 and just want to dance all night.
The 60-foot UFO Disco is landing at Sandsifter in Gwithian. The venue’s teamed up with The Aurora Project – the creators of the UFO – to present a month of entertainments in the spaceship that will be out of this world.
John Rees, of The Aurora Project, designed and built the UFO.
He said: “The spaceship is a new concept in mobile venues. Taking the shape of a stunning UFO, the structure has a total capacity of 250 people and includes an 8 metre bar, DJ booth and sunken dance floor.
“The sound system is exceptional, utilising a full Void Acoustics package that adds a superb high-end clarity with unrivalled clean, solid bass. All this is tastefully complimented with choice American DJ lighting components. This is a truly unique structure and a great space for events.”
Entertainments booked for the UFO include a charity comedy night with Kernow King, a run of film nights screening sci-fi cult films and a series of music events.
The music events include house DJs, an evening of Northern soul and a reggae and dub night.
Peter Randles, of the Sandsifter, said: “We are delighted to be able to host the UFO at Sandsifter. It will be such a spectacle and the line up of entertainments is very exciting.”
The events start on Saturday, March 2, with DJs KBS, Martin C, Ollie Stratton, Sam F, Silkworm, Drop DJs and Snatch the Wax, followed by a showing of the classic sci-film epic 2001: A Space Odyssey on Thursday, March 7.
The UFO can also be hired for exclusive private functions from weddings to children’s’ parties.
For more information on, or to book, the UFO at Sandsifter, go to www.ufoatsandsifter.co.uk or call Sandsifter on 01736 757809.
