HAYLE town councillors agreed to try and get a more frequent train service for the town at a meeting last week.
Four bidders are currently competing to run the rail network franchise in the South West for the next 15 years.
Mayor, Councillor John Bennett, said at the council meeting last Thursday: "Now is the time to try and influence that franchise ... we need to agree what we want in the franchise.
The Department for Transport will announce minimum service levels for the franchise in June, with final bids due in by August. The operator will be announced in December, with the contract starting in April 2013.
