Saturday 13th July it's back to comedy-drama with the very quirky SOMETIMES ALWAYS NEVER starring the always dependable Bill Nighy as a dapper tailor searching for his missing son Michael who fled 10 years earlier --over a game of Scrabble. If you enjoy the gentle, stylised films of Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom et al), then this one's for you: offbeat yet very English.

Hayle in Bloom Judging Day 2019

A reminder that first judging takes place on 4th July and yet again, last year, the judges commented on the community spirit they experienced whilst visiting our town. We would, therefore, again like to encourage all Hayle residents to ‘beautify’ their gardens, and pubs to get their ‘flower’ dressings on.
We would also encourage you to enter the Hayle Cup competitions (Best Residential Garden and Best Dressed Pub) to be judged in week beginning 29th July.
Entry forms are available from the 1st June at the following outlets :
Post Offices in Copperhouse and Foundry; Central Garage; Texaco Garage; Passmore Edwards Institute; Day Care Centre.
Capernaum | Hayle Film Club

Thursday 20th June, we'll present our only foreign-language film of the summer, the extraordinary social-realist drama CAPERNAUM, in which a streetwise 12-year-old boy in Beirut takes his negligent parents to court (in Arabic, with English subtitles).

If Beale Street Could Talk | Hayle Film Club

Finally, on Thursday 25th July we end the season with the heart-stopping
1970s Harlem love story IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK, based on James Baldwin's novel that interweaves prejudice and oppression with love, loss and transcendence --a beautiful and heartfelt film.
As usual, we'll take a break in August and look forward to seeing you in September with a fresh programme of some of the most interesting films released in UK cinemas over the past year.

Friends of the Towans – Butterfly Management

That’s code for ‘raking bramble cuttings from some of the slopes’. It’ll be hot work if it’s sunny, so we’ll go gently and hopefully treat ourselves to some lovely views of silver-studded blues in their peak flying season. Meet in National Trust (NT) car park at Godrevy (the one with the main cafe) at 10.00am on Thursday 13 June 2019. Fee payable for non-NT members.
Ranger Martin Rule will bring tools, gloves, tea, coffee and biscuits, but please make sure you bring some lunch and appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for working in the exposed Towans’ environment.

Colin carried out a survey of Godrevy Warren last year and will share some of his vast knowledge of the area’s plants with us. We may well head up around the headland as well. Fun Dog Show and Stalls | NAWT

NAWT are holding a Fun Dog Show, with rosettes 1st - 5th place, goodie bags for 1st place winners and trophies for Reserve and Best in Show and Best Rescue, at Hayle Recreation Ground.
There'll also be food and refreshments available along with stalls selling a variety of items!
