More support has been pouring in for a father of two from Newquay who is fighting for his life in hospital after being attacked in the street. Primary school teacher Ryan Polmounter, from St Newlyn East, remains in a critical condition following a serious assault which happened in the early hours of Monday, May 29. The Royal Cornwall Show gets under way tomorrow and thousands of visitors will fill the show field, paddocks and stands for the biggest event in the county. The latest YouGov opinion poll released ahead of the General Election is predicting the Conservatives will fall 24 seats short of a majority and says the St Ives seat is too close to call between Conservative candidate Derek Thomas and Lib Dem Andrew George. The YouGov poll is predicting the Conservatives to win 302 seats with a majority of 42%, with Labour in second place, taking 269 seats and 38% of the vote. This would mean a loss of 29 seats for the Conservatives and a gain of 37 seats...

Holidaymakers found themselves in a sticky situation when his campervan got stuck hanging over a cliff edge. Three fire engines from Tolvaddon and Perranporth were called to the cliff road at Trevellas near St Agnes after receiving a call from a campervan owner who found himself in a precarious situation. A jury has been sworn in for the trial of the director of a yachting management company accused of the manslaughter of four sailors, including one from Torpoint, who died when the Cheeki Rafiki capsized in the North Atlantic. Two off-duty lifeguards came to the rescue of a body-border was in difficulty in choppy waters off the coast of Padstow.
