Cornwall's tips have reopened - here's what people are desperate to get rid of

Three dumps in Cornwall have been closed today due to traffic congestion.

Cornwall Council has confirmed its household waste and recycling centres at Helston, Saltash and St Erth are now closed due to long queuing traffic and tailbacks.

They are urging people not to visit today and to instead return at another time.

Other household waste and recycling centres across the county are said to be extremely busy.

Many of Cornwall's tips reopened on Tuesday, May 19. The sites use a registration plate entry system and people have been restricted on what items they can take.

By the end of last week all of Cornwall’s 14 Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRC) were open, with an easing of some of the current restrictions allowing the reintroduction of trailers onsite.

It was also announced that there will be reduced traffic management measures at some sites.

Several people have contacted Cornwall Live complaining at long queues and waits at facilities around the county.
