Cornwall Cornwall says it needs to privatise enforcement because it is too difficult and expensive for County Hall to manage.
The Cornwall Council (Off Street Parking Places) Order 2025
Consultation Summary
Cornwall Council is inviting Comments on its proposed amendments- including the revocation of a number of car parks- from its Off-Street Parking Places Order, which governs the operation of its car parks.Background:
Cornwall Council manages 132 chargeable car parks and a further 72 free car parks throughout Cornwall- the largest number of car parks spaces managed by a local authority in the UK. The revenue generated from the fees charges are invested back into maintaining the car parks , associated infrastructure and our highway and transportation network. This consultation proposes to remove a number of these car parks from the order to be leased and operated as a Car Park by a third party organisation.Scheme Objectives
The proposed order will replace the current order and will propose to make the following amendments
A number of car parks will be removed from the Councils control
There will be an reduction to the maximum stay period in Old Bridge Street,Truro
Reserved Permit parking will be added to Tolcarne Road, Newquay
Amendments will be made to the minimum spend for JustPark Wallet
