A much-loved seven-year-old cat has been reunited with his owners – more than a fortnight after going missing.

Black and white-coloured Ossie, who lives with John and Lisa Elsey at Carwinard Close, Angarrack, turned up unannounced at a shop in St Ives 18 days after he disappeared on September 14.

Someone at the shop reported the cat to the RSPCA who checked Ossie's micro-chip and reunited him with the Elseys.

Delighted as she is to have Ossie home again, Mrs Elsey, who appealed for information about Ossie in The Cornishman three weeks ago, says she still doesn't know why he disappeared, how he ended up eight miles away in St Ives or what he got up to during his 18-day 'holiday'.

"Ossie is a real creature of habit and we don't have a clue what happened to him," she said.

"When we got him back, he was a little bit thinner but otherwise absolutely fine – we kept him indoors for a couple of days but he quickly went straight back into his normal routine.

"The RSPCA don't give out any details about whoever found him but we would very much like to thank whoever did and, if possible, discover a little bit more about what he might have got up to."

If you were the person who handed Ossie in to the RSPCA, Mrs Elsey can be contacted on 07867 313912.
